A robot will take your job?

The BBC recently built a thing based on a report of the rise of the machines, and that thing says PR people are ‘quite unlikely’ to be replaced by robots.

Still, I had a chance to visit with the founders of KeyWee and Narrative Science during the PR Council’s Critical Issues Forum, and they convinced me the even something as basic as writing copy may be handed over soon to scary smart AI machines.

I’m convinced that we need smart, fast machines to deal with data — to build insights from the mountains of information we gather — but I’m not sure there will ever be a time to concede the role of counselor and strategist. I’m also willing to say that more organizations need to stop ignoring the data that surrounds us and make time to integrate the lonely data sitting in someone’s corner of the shop.

That said, I’m still waiting on the robot housekeepers and flying cars we were promised decades ago.

What’s your take? Are machines making us smarter? Are they going to take our jobs? Please share with us on the Twitter.
