PR Council affirms central role: power to relate

New York-based Council of Public Relations Firms, the trade association of America’s 100 leading public relations firms, on October 22 introduced a manifesto describing the central role of public relations and a new logo, too.

Hanser & Associates has been a member of PR Council since 2001 and Ronald Hanser serves on the executive committee of the Council’s board of directors.  Thus, we’re proud to help re-introduce the central role of public relations, while noting that PR Council members abide by the world’s highest standards of practice.

Here is what it means to our clients and others in business:

  • PR IS PR — PR Council’s research indicated PR remains the right name for what Council member firms do. Whether a PR firm is helping clients build awareness, create dialogue that fosters trust with their audiences, or drive people to action, it’s public relations.
  • PR IS AT THE CENTER — The new PR Council logo clarifies the reality of what goes on under the public relations umbrella, keeping PR front and center. Although today’s digitally connected world is changing the way PR firms operate and how we view ourselves, PR Council members (including Hanser & Associates) have long served clients’ needs for social media, digital communication, video/content creation, crisis communication, reputation management, marketing communication and related disciplines with staff professionals who understand the essential role of building relationships. PR has never been more integrated.
  • PR DIFFERENTIATES — Public relations has never been more relevant. The research conducted among CMOs and CCOs for the PR Council’s repositioning supported the opinion that PR is a differentiator for many companies and organizations in America and worldwide. In the current highly competitive marketplace, 100% of respondents believe their work is “guided by the principles of public relations.”
